A selection from my PP172 Haworthia hybrid series. This is one of several different crosses where I incorporate truncata genetics to tweak the leaf shape and window morphology. The influence of truncata genetics can be seen in the wide leaves and leaf arrangement. My Haworthia Scarlet Begonias hybrids are one of my oldest hybrid series started before the turn of the century. They are splendens x picta hybrids and hybrids of splendens x picta hybrids. They have been selected for intense coloration and spotting. Over the years I have shipped them all over the world and they are being used by other breeders in their crosses. This is one of my older selections sown back in 2005. It's remained solitary over the years but it's a great parent plant contributing that wonderful pink spotting. Hard experience of H. picta GM581. When it just arrived at the end of 2016, it had almost no roots and could only consume leaves’ energy. Once the new roots came out, this poor plant finally had the sign of growth—as you can see in the second photo(taken at 2018). Now this H. picta already has beautiful shape of leaves.
