No, this isn’t a Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Bean (watermelon kind) sprouting from the ground! This is, in fact, an ultra-rare species of Cape bulb found along the banks of the Great Fish River in South Africa’s Eastern Cape. It grows tucked into rocky crevices, blending right in with the stones thanks to its leaf-colored foliage, and produces small white flowers. It’s a winter grower. Although they look nothing alike, it’s actually related to D. intricata .
