Delicate, slender heart-shaped leaves and purple flowers. This plant is perennial, and it's said to form tuberous roots similar to sweet potatoes, but I couldn't find any photos to confirm this yet. Its name is often confused with the relatively new horticultural variety, Ipomoea transvaalensis, because their names sound alike, but they are different plants. "Transvaal" refers to a province in eastern South Africa, and indeed, the homeland of Ipomoea transvaalensis is in that general area, reaching up to Ethiopia.
