A round cactus with vibrant green stems, topped with neat vertical rows of white areoles and slender red spines. It blooms with spectacular, large flowers whose sharp petals shine from white to yellow—hence its Japanese name, "Kin-Komachi" ((which means "Golden Little Lady")). Previously, it was classified as N. vanvlietii , so you may still find it sold under the name "Notocactus vanvlietii."
