With its large, round leaves tightly cupped into a goblet shape—indeed, reminiscent of a "rose"—this Aeonium stands out with a rare silhouette quite unlike typical Aeonium species. This unique form stems from its Greenovia lineage, which, combined with its limited availability in Japan, gives it a rare and coveted aura. The coloration tends toward deep wine reds and dark browns. Likely originating from China, it goes by the Chinese name "魅金玫瑰" ("Mèi Jīn" rose). In Japan, it is commonly known as "Mikin Rose," reflecting its phonetic reading; this name has become the most fittingly established in the trade. Since early 2025, a variegated form called "MeiJin Rose Variegated @ " has also started to appear on the market.
