Especially during seasons with strong temperature differences, the striking contrast between the lush green center and the neon red edges brings out the feeling of a flickering flame. This is an Aeonium that truly puts on a show! Reaching up to 50cm across, it's a large Aeonium indeed; encountering a mature specimen might just make you swoon. As of 2025, it's a fairly high-priced hybrid. This is the variegated form of the hybrid ‘Ice Warrior’—created by Surreal Succulents in the UK (Aeonium smithii A. smithii × Aeonium 'Cyclops' A. 'Cyclops' )—which was discovered in 2020 at a nursery in Shandong, China. Its original name in Chinese was “魅影法師.” Since “Phantom” refers specifically to the variegated type, calling it “Phantom Nishiki” is actually a bit redundant.
