A new Aeonium variety with impressively bold coloration: in the summer coloring season, its leaves become almost black, with deep red margined variegation, and the center of the rosette shines with a bright green glow. Its color is deeper than that of A. 'Saint Simon Violet' , and the center is brighter than that of A. arboreum 'Kurohoushi Nishiki' . At its peak, the leaves are thick and rounded, yet the tips remain sharply pointed—this is another feature to help with identification. While its exact origin is unclear, it is said to be a margined variegated form of A. 'Velour' , possibly bred in the Netherlands.

Of course, all Aeonium varieties are interesting, but in particular, the dark-colored variegated types are Aeoniums where the "changes" are truly enjoyable. All the photos here are of the very same plant. Sometimes the colors are bright, sometimes dark; the leaves may be slender or round. Its appearance can transform dramatically within just a month, or even just a few weeks.
