This is a selected variety of Agave titanota A. titanota , notable for its deep, dark brown spines that color vividly on the young leaves near the growth point. The spines sometimes appear to flicker, which may be the inspiration behind the name "flame," though it’s unclear if this is distinct enough to be considered a defining feature. Originally from Taiwan. Due to widespread mericlone propagation, it’s relatively easier to obtain compared to other select varieties.
