This cactus, nothing like your typical cactus, flaunts rugged, bumpy tubercles that jut out like a rocky cliff face. To see its true nature, I really recommend searching for "Ariocarpus scapharostrum in habitat" and checking out photos of it in the wild—when nestled among rough chunks of broken stone, its camouflage is so perfect you’d hardly know where it’s growing. As an ornamental plant, though, it’s usually displayed with its upper half exposed, so you can admire those dark green tubercles and the bold, lion-like fuzz that gives it a fearless look. It grows extremely slowly, and even small specimens can be fairly pricey.
