Famously known as "warabi mochi succulent," Bulbine mesembryanthoides B. mesembryanthoides , here's a new face from the same Bulbine genus. Its soft, warabi mochi-like leaves are extra charming, spreading a lacy, net-patterned "window" at their tips. The name "Lolita" isn’t a garden nickname—it’s the actual scientific name! Inspired by its adorably sweet looks, the name draws from Nabokov’s novel "Lolita." It was officially described as a new species by Steven Hammer in 2006. While it used to be extremely rare, around the end of 2023, a large batch imported from overseas made it much more affordable. Whether it will become popular or reliably available in the future is still anyone’s guess.
