This is a variegated type of C. perforata , with white edges and a green stripe remaining down the center of each leaf. When viewed from above, the plant looks like it forms a narrow cross. In winter, the edges take on a subtle pink tint. The name is often pronounced "Minamijūjisei," just like the constellation, but it seems that "Minamijūjiboshi" is more commonly used. The similar names can be confusing—when people say "Jūjisei" (Southern Cross) on its own, they usually mean the non-variegated C. perforata . Despite its variegated appearance and seemingly delicate nature in sunlight, it tends to stretch if it doesn't get enough strong light. You'll sometimes see labels calling it "Perforata Variegata," but be aware that this might not always refer to exactly the same plant.
