Its perfectly round form is covered in a thick layer of white wax, making it incredibly white—truly, it's among the whitest of all succulents. Thanks to that thick wax, it tolerates bright light very well, but on the other hand, it won’t thrive beautifully without strong light. Cuttings can be slow to root, making this one a bit tricky. Not only does its form look quite unlike a typical Echeveria—which makes you suspect it might be closely related to Pachyphytum—but its flower characteristics are similar, too, so I can’t help but think they’re closely related. The name "laui" comes from the German botanist Alfred Lau, and you'll find many other plants in different genera that share this namesake.

One of the major differences from typical Echeveria, as you can tell by the thick white powder, is its incredible tolerance for and love of bright light. Without plenty of strong light, it won’t grow beautifully. In particular, if you want that dense white powder, you need a combination of intense light, never watering from above, and a calm environment. In other words, an "indoor LED setup is recommended."
Also, since cuttings are difficult to root, it may take some technique to propagate them successfully. I'm still experimenting and learning myself.
