The glossy, chestnut brown "window" of this plant has very little patterning, giving it a smooth look—and paired with its shiny, perfectly browned body, it’s hard not to think of a freshly baked chestnut manju bun (haha). This variety is actually a color variation of L. julii ssp.fulleri , and as its name suggests, the top sometimes develops a reddish tint, taking on a color much like L. 'Top Red' , depending on the season. If the brown tones dominate, it will closely resemble the typical form of 福来玉 L. julii ssp.fulleri , but the strength of the pattern is a useful point to tell them apart.
