This is a white-centered variegated form of M. 'Lavender Lady' . It was discovered in Japan under the name “Lavender Lady Shirachūfu” (white-centered variegation). Despite being called “white-centered,” the variegation appears as stripes, giving it a similar vibe to A. 'Quick Silver' . Technically, since Lavender Lady is a Mangave, it belongs to the Mangave genus, but tracing its roots leads to the name “Agave 'Moonbeam’.” Exactly why the name Moonbeam is used for an Agave, who created it, and when—all remain unclear based on what I could find. However, since there’s a lot of information from Australian suppliers, I suspect it likely started spreading from that region.
