A body of deep teal blue set off by faint red leopard-like spots and edgy crimson spines—this cool-looking beauty is further accentuated by its slender, sharp leaves. Among the new “Mangave” hybrids that emerged around 2005, there are two main lineages, and one of them traces back to this 'Bloodspot' (the other being 'Macho Mocha' M. 'Macho Mocha' ). It's said to have originated in Japan. 'Bloodspot' is a hybrid between Agave macroacantha A. macroacantha and Manfreda maculosa M. maculosa . Even at full size, it stays on the smaller side for an agave, growing to about 40 cm—just right for a table display.
