The old story that Haworthia consisted of “soft-leaved” and “hard-leaved” types is no longer quite accurate. In 2013, many of the hard-leaved species officially broke away to form Haworthiopsis. Given the complicated taxonomic history behind the group, future changes are never entirely off the table—but for now, these rugged beauties have a genus of their own.
