The flames of a dancing bonfire—this Aeonium is striking for its alluring shape, which features long, slender, dramatically twisted leaves that almost resemble the feathers of a phoenix. (Though if you search for images online, you'll also find more typical round-leaf types, so this look isn't always guaranteed.) With some Greenovia in its lineage, the young leaves are tightly cupped like little goblets. Often described as the variegated form of Aeonium 'Phoenix Flame' A. 'Phoenix Flame' , it displays fine margin variegation, plus even finer vertical stripes. However, outside the growing season, the variegation tends to fade and instead the whole plant develops a bright, glowing wine-red coloration.
