This is one of the selected forms of so-called "named" Agave titanota, referred to as "Nemdo." The original specimen was selected by "Royal Agave" in the agave community, and you can see a photo of it on Instagram. Rather than offering a clumsy explanation, I'll simply say: "Just go take a look." According to one account, Royal selected this plant from among seedlings of @ that were being mass-produced at a nursery in California. Because of its origin, it's only natural that it closely resembles @, and until the plant matures—sometimes not even until it becomes quite a large, adult specimen—it's quite difficult to tell them apart. There are even some plants being sold under the name "BB Beast," but technically, "BB" and "Beast" have different origins and are not the same individual. So, please don't mix them up.
