This is one of the so-called "named" selections of A. titanota, often referred to as "named forms." While the width of the teeth along the leaf edges is relatively modest, the broad leaves give it a look reminiscent of Jaguarnaut. At the same time, its prominent, sharply pointed top spines give off an impression of fierce power. The seedling in the photo is notably darker—almost "blackish"—compared to other A. titanota, which stands out as a key feature. However, this may simply be due to current environmental factors, or perhaps it's just the influence of the name making it seem that way. Either way, it's hard to say for certain.
