This is one of the select specimens of the so-called named varieties of A. titanota, often just called 'Titanota.' Its pale blue-white leaves seem to hold the color of a deep, tranquil sea. Even under the intense sunlight that would often bring out red hues in other agaves, this plant blushes only slightly, taking on a subtle violet tone instead of turning red. As it matures, the leaves become progressively broader and develop impressively deep, saw-like notches, giving them a wild, rugged look. While compact, rounded forms of titanota are especially prized these days, this plant's sprawling, downward-arching shape goes against the trend. Yet, it's precisely this bold, untamed look that has earned it its high regard and the nickname 'the lion's mane.'
