DETAIL

Crassula with broad, flat, round leaves that cluster close to the ground, blushing deep wine red under stress. It’s quite rare in Japan, but to be honest, the demand for it is... (ahem). Now, as for the name “Purple Butterfly,” there’s been some debate about whether it’s actually clavata C. clavata or platyphylla C. nudicaulis var.platyphylla , so I’ve split them into separate pages just in case. By the way, in Japan, “clavata” is more commonly circulated, but the one in the photo was sourced as “platyphylla.” Which is the real one? Stay tuned for updates! It also closely resembles another "butterfly"-named species, shijimicho C. 'Shijimicho Nishiki' (the link goes to the variegated form).
