Based on the scientific name, it's called expansa fragilis. So where does "browneana" come from? There's actually a species called C. browniana , which is now considered the same species as this expansa fragilis. As for "peculiaris," that's another species— C. peculiaris —which is regarded as the same as Crassula expansa ssp. peculiaris, but considered separate from this expansa fragilis.
In other words, fragilis and peculiaris are currently treated as different species… but what's really different about them? I happen to have both types at home from different sources, but honestly, I can't see any difference at all. There's some info saying peculiaris has a different native range (only found in the Western Cape).
