Sprouting straight up from a single leaf that grows from the ground, these dramatic "horns" create a truly unique look—no wonder Cape bulbs are so beloved! This species is a particular favorite at the Cape bulb specialty shop, Elioquest, and it's known for being relatively easy to grow, making it a great choice for beginners. Native to the Northern Cape region of South Africa, it's a winter-growing type. From autumn to spring, be sure to give it plenty of sunlight, and during the summer, keep it in a cool spot with more subdued light. E. appendiculatum has a similar shape, but differs in the density of its protrusions as well as the number and size of its leaves.
