This is a so-called "hard-leaved Haworthia" with short leaves that grow straight upward in a "tower" shape. Think of it as a stack of short, upright "Zebra Plant" leaves—there are many variations of this type. Many of them look quite similar, so matching Japanese names to scientific names can be tricky. It closely resembles H. coarctata , which is from the same original species, but whereas that one has tiny spots that appear dotted, this one is distinct for its bold, white stripes.

This is a "tower" type of so-called "hard-leaved Haworthia," with compact, short leaves growing vertically. Because the leaves are tightly packed and don't branch out, the plant ends up with an odd, eye-catching form, like a thick, 5–6cm wide stem stretching straight up.
Almost all Haworthia with this distinctive shape are variations of this species (and there are plenty!). There's another one, H. coarctata , that looks quite similar because it comes from the same original species. The difference is that H. coarctata has tiny spots with a dotted pattern, while this one has large, elongated white stripes running along its leaves.
Haworthias have thick roots that store water, making them extremely drought-tolerant—not just in their leaves, but in their roots too. They can easily survive a dry summer even if you don't water them at all! They're also resistant to humidity, so they're sturdy and easy to grow.
Unlike soft-leaved Haworthia, these ones prefer spots with a bit more sunlight. They're not fans of the cold, though, so be sure to bring them indoors for the winter.
