This is a "retusa-type" Haworthia that spreads triangular windows at the tips of its leaves. It's especially admired for its glossy, smooth, and slightly swollen leaf windows, along with the beauty of its white window frames. It's a very popular variety and widely known by the nickname "Compto." There are also many hybrids, making it a sought-after favorite. Compared to its close relative, Emelyae, it grows a bit larger and can reach a maximum diameter of about 12 cm. While Emelyae H. emelyae var.emelyae has tea-brown leaves, this one is green. In its natural habitat, it's an extremely rare species and can only be found in a very limited area of the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. It resembles Correcta H. correcta , but unlike Correcta's distinct net-like windows, Compto shows a variety of window patterns—some plants even have glass-like frosted windows, which is a signature feature of this variety.

Many people rate its cultivation as "easy." It's fairly cold-hardy—it can withstand temperatures down to -5°C if you try hard, but it's safest to keep it above 5°C. Protection from frost is essential. In nature, this species grows buried in the soil. Keep it out of direct sunlight, and avoid extreme temperature changes.
