それはまるで空にふわりと浮かぶ一輪の花。きらめくシルバーグリーンの細葉は背景として溶け込みながら、突如として伸びた花芽から展開するネオンピンクとベルベットパープルの色鮮やかな花のコントラストは、まるでなにもないところから花がとつぜん現れたよう。「ベルゲリ T. bergeri 」あたりにも似たコですが、ベルゲリは花芽が直立がちなのに比べてアーチ状に垂れ下がっているのが違いとか。名前はギリシャ語 aer「空気」＋ anthos「花」で、「空中に咲く花」といったところでしょうか。南ブラジル〜ウルグアイの海岸林出身。
