パルビフローラ
Hesperaloe parvifloraヒラヒラと白い糸細く長いアーチ状の葉っぱを、最大で高さ1.2m、幅1.8mほどのブッシュに生長させ、毎年初夏に赤く小さな花を燃えるように咲かせる様子がとてもインプレッシブで、アメリカ南西部で「テキサスレッドユッカ」の愛称で親しまれているコ。「ヘスペラロエ」という属名がマイナー感だけど「西部のアロエ」という意味。当初はユッカとされたようにユッカやアガベに近い属で、ユッカよりもアロエに近い生態なのが由来だとか。パルビフローラは「小さい花」という意味。ブレイクライト H. parviflora 'Brakelights' という小型でより暗い色の花を咲かせる品種も流通しています。

@ScorpioKing1183 Hesperaloe parviflora or what we call red yucca, though it isn't a yucca. It's very popular in our area as it is drought resistant and works in our terrible soil. Plus they are very pretty. We have 5-6 of them in our front yard.
