Soft, fluffy, trailing stems... Just like its nickname, this cactus is often called the "Cat Tail Cactus," and you might find it listed under its former scientific name, Hildewintera. The currently recognized name "winteri" actually covers two main varieties. One is the standard type, "@," known in the trade as "Golden Rat Tail Cactus," which has short golden hairs, tends to grow upright, and looks a bit like a columnar cactus. The other is "@," which has long, pure white, super-fluffy hairs and starts trailing downwards even when young. When people refer to the classic "cat tail," they're usually talking about this latter variety. For more details, see each individual page.
