A rare succulent from Argentina in the pineapple family. It's sometimes also called "Chlorantha." At first glance, you might think it's just a cute plant that produces small 3–5 cm rosettes—but when the rosettes cluster tightly together to form a large, perfectly round mound, it's truly an impressive sight (thanks to its remarkable ability to grow evenly in all directions, no matter the environment). In this sense, it's similar to S. mexicanum . However, its growth is said to be slow. Who knows how many years it takes to reach such a size... Among members of the pineapple family, it's relatively cold-hardy, but since it doesn't tolerate frost or ice, it's best to overwinter it indoors. Keep it on the dry side in winter. In summer, provide regular watering. "Brevifolia" means "short-leaved" in Latin, and "chlorantha" means "green flower."
