Even in a sprawling sales area, the eye is instantly drawn to the pink cactus known as "Shitaitaiyo" (@(4227)). Its English name, Ruby Rainbow, is just as cheerful and uplifting. The secret behind its bright, almost translucent color lies in its spines: while its body is the typical green, the spines covering it display a stunning gradient—deep red near the areoles shifting outward to pink and white speckles. To bring out these vibrant hues, plenty of sunlight is a must. However, this cactus is a bit tricky to grow, as it dislikes excess moisture. Well-draining soil is essential, and it should be kept in a cool spot with good air circulation. On the plus side, it's extremely cold-hardy. This beauty hails from the Sonora and Chihuahua regions of Mexico.
