With a bizarre, almost alien appearance, Faucaria tigrina stands out as one of the signature wild species of the Faucaria genus. Its "teeth" are arranged in a simple line—smooth on the inside, while the outside grooves display white dots. The scientific name "tigrina" refers to "tiger," and in English-speaking regions, it’s known as both "tiger’s tooth" and "shark’s tooth." The Japanese name "Shikaiba" is an old term originating from a Noh chant, and describes "the rough waves that encircle the world’s seas." While it sounds dramatic, each single plant is actually quite small and adorable, measuring only about 1–3 cm in size.
