With its bead-like leaves elegantly cascading down, this plant truly lives up to the "necklace" name, and it's a classic favorite for adding the finishing decorative touch to succulent arrangements. The variegated form of "String of Pearls S. rowleyanus " (popularly known as Gurine), shows an incredible range of variegation: one single plant—or even one branch!—can show pure white, stripes, or almost fully green pearls, all randomly mixed. When filled with water, the leaves grow into perfect spheres, while dehydrated leaves take on a shape much like water drops. This water-drop look closely resembles the "String of Almonds", so it's sometimes nicknamed the "variegated String of Almonds"—but that actually refers to "Angel Tears S. herreanus f.variegata ", which differs in size, as well as in color and pattern of the variegation. The names "Variegated Gurine", "Variegated Green Bells", and "Marble Necklace" are all likely to be different nicknames for this same plant.
