With its thick, undulating leaves that twist and spread outward, this striking silver-leafed Tillandsia is completely covered in dense white trichomes. When given plenty of light, the leaf tips blush gently from pink to purple hues, and during its blooming season, eye-catching blue-violet tubular flowers emerge from pink bracts. Among air plants, it grows quite large, sometimes reaching up to 30 cm across when mature and blooming. It doesn't produce a visible stem but sends out plenty of offsets from the base of its rosette, eventually forming an impressive, clustered specimen as you nurture it over time. Native to the rocky canyon walls near Ocozocoautla, Chiapas, Mexico, this species was described in 1978. Its name comes from its birthplace, Chiapas.
