A strange, coral-like form that looks less like a tree and more like something under the sea—meet the fascinating and unusual Tylecodon. With their unique shape and remarkable lifestyle, these plants stand out as true curiosities. They hail from the southwest of Namibia all the way down to South Africa's Cape region. Their branches are extremely soft and brittle, so you’ll need to handle them with care. But that's actually a kind of survival strategy: when a branch breaks off, it can grow its own roots and multiply (leaf cuttings, however, don’t tend to work very well). Mature plants usually reach a height of about 30 cm. There’s also a variety that spreads wider rather than growing up: T. buchholzianus var.fasciculatus .

チレコドン ブッコルジアヌス まるで盆栽 https://t.co/0tWdCT0ZR5
@PMGilmartin I've bought most of my Tylecodon from BCSS members selling spare plants at cactus marts, shows, online, etc. There are a few species that are grown on a large scale by the big European nurseries which will probably be the easiest to get hold of, eg schaeferianus, buchholzianus
Tylecodon buchholzianus seeing as it's #TylecodonTuesday. This species doesn't always grow leaves but it has decided to grow a few this year. I've had it 3 winters and it's the first time I've seen leaves. #succulents #caudiciforms #HouseplantHour #tylecodon https://t.co/9ovZQcvFaY
No man, yo quería aprender botánica pero no soy una Tylecodon buchholzianus, una pena. https://t.co/gsHlw0uaWH
