Hesperaloe parviflora하얀 실 같은 가느다란 긴 아치형 잎들이 흩날리듯 자라며, 최대 높이 1.2m, 너비 1.8m 정도의 덤불로 성장합니다. 그리고 매년 초여름이면 불타오르듯 선명한 빨간 작은 꽃들이 피어나는 모습이 무척 인상적이어서, 미국 남서부에서는 '텍사스 레드 유카'라는 애칭으로도 알려져 있어요. '헤스페랄로에'라는 속명은 낯설게 느껴질 수 있지만, '서부의 알로에'라는 의미랍니다. 처음에는 유카와 같은 유카속에 속하는 식물로 여겨졌으나, 실제로는 유카나 아가베와 가까운 종류이면서도 유카보다도 알로에의 생태와 더 닮아 있다는 점에서 유래했다고 해요. '파르비플로라'는 '작은 꽃'이라는 뜻입니다. 이외에도, 보다 작고 더 짙은 빛깔의 꽃이 피는 브레이크라이트 H. parviflora 'Brakelights' 품종 등도 유통되고 있습니다.

@ScorpioKing1183 Hesperaloe parviflora or what we call red yucca, though it isn't a yucca. It's very popular in our area as it is drought resistant and works in our terrible soil. Plus they are very pretty. We have 5-6 of them in our front yard.
