With arching leaves that are long, thin, and edged with white, this plant can grow into a bush up to about 1.2 meters tall and 1.8 meters wide. Each early summer, it puts on a striking display as it bursts into clusters of small, vibrant red flowers—so impressive that it's affectionately known as the "Texas Red Yucca" throughout the American Southwest. While its genus name, "Hesperaloe," isn't widely recognized, it actually means "western aloe." Although it was originally classified as a type of Yucca, its way of growing is more similar to Aloe, which is reflected in the name. The species name "parviflora" means "small flowers." There's also a compact cultivar with even darker blooms, called H. parviflora 'Brakelights' , that you might find available.

@JoeySantore They left the Hesperaloe parviflora alone at least...
Red yucca (Hesperaloe parviflora) is a showy, drought-tolerant landscape plant that is well-suited to the low and mid-elevations of Arizona. https://t.co/8CunhvAwYS https://t.co/O63PJy8zps
@ScorpioKing1183 Hesperaloe parviflora or what we call red yucca, though it isn't a yucca. It's very popular in our area as it is drought resistant and works in our terrible soil. Plus they are very pretty. We have 5-6 of them in our front yard.
