マリアニアエ
Adromischus marianiaeアドロミスクスの代表的なコながら、その姿は……葉っぱが棍棒状だったり細長いスプーン状だったり座布団のようにぼってりしていたり、柄があったりなかったり、表面がスムースだったりデコボコしていたり……と本当に多種多様なバリエーションがあって捉えどころがありません。同じ品種の中でも個体差が大きいとも言われますし。挙げ句には「識別に役立つ特徴がまったくない」とまで言われちゃうコもいるとかで。「マリアニアエとはなにか？」という問いを追求するのは諦めて、個々のバリエーションを愛でてあげてください。ちなみにこの学名を「marianae マリアナエ／マリアンナエ」と表記することもありますが、どちらも同じものを指しています。1907年から100年以上続くスペルミス論争でいまだに決着はついていません。
