This is a type of Red Catweazle A. titanota 'Red Catweazle' that is said to develop even chunkier, fiercer spines. The name itself is used as a search keyword for all sorts of "cat" plants, so its definition has become rather blurry. However, the nickname originally came about naturally among fans to describe a particularly impressive Red Catweazle grown by Coyote Plants, one of the pioneers of the Agave scene in Japan. Basically, unless it's a clone from Coyote, it's not considered the "official" version. The photo shows an original mericlone plant from Coyote.

What do you think? These are the real results of a long-term growth comparison between the authentically pedigreed "Gorineko" from Coyote (even written by hand as "Gorineko" at its sale event!) and my own standard, non-pedigree "cat". You can probably see that the legendary "Gorineko" really does stand out, in some way...
Wait, you can't tell the difference? Umm...
Well, this isn't something you hear out loud, but apparently, in the shadowy corners of the internet, some folks whisper, "Aren't they pretty much the same?" or "Isn't it just about different growing conditions?" I guess it's just one of those things that's hard to judge definitively!
