This is a variation of the so-called A. titanota , with a striking and stylish contrast between its pale blue-white body and black spines. The leaves are relatively thin and wide, while the teeth along the margin are bold, triangular, and clearly arranged, looking exactly like the teeth of a saw. As a pioneering form that existed long before the "Agave titanota boom," it has enjoyed top-tier popularity since way back. These days, it’s become widely available, and even more selections with even more dramatic features and variegated types have appeared. Often referred to as BB for short. Previously, it was written as a selected form of "Titanota Blue Ball A. titanota 'Blue Ball' ," but now "Blue Ball" has effectively disappeared as a line, and "Blue Ball" is now considered synonymous with "Black and Blue." Its origin can be traced back to seeds collected from wild plants in the region near Tepitizonga (Tepitizonga) in Oaxaca, Mexico; from those wild seedlings, renowned breeder Kelly Griffin—well-known for his many Aloe creations—selected this particular line.
