パリィ A. parryi の変種で、別名「アーティチョークアガベ」というように、先が丸い葉っぱが伸び切らず下葉よりも上の葉が半分以上長い状態でボール状になるため、まさにアーティチョークみたいなフォルムになります。学名の truncata は「途中でバッサリ切れた」という意味で、その伸び切らない丸い葉っぱのことを指します。他の変種よりもやや小型。「パリーフレキシスピナ」は同じもののようで（写真はフレキシスピナ）、単にフレキシスピナ A. flexispina というと別種。
