A variety of Parry's A. parryi , also known as the "Artichoke Agave." True to its nickname, its upper leaves are more than twice as long as its lower ones and curve to form a ball shape, with tips that are rounded and don't fully elongate, giving it an artichoke-like appearance. The scientific name truncata means "abruptly cut off," referring to those short, rounded leaves. It's a bit smaller than other varieties. "Parryi Flexispina" seems to refer to the same plant (the photo shows flexispina), but if you see simply "flexispina" A. flexispina , it refers to a different species.
