Have you ever noticed those small aloes with short leaves popping up everywhere? That’s this one! In our neighborhood, among succulent growers, it's definitely the second most popular species right after the tree aloe. It grows to about 50–60 cm at its biggest, staying more compact than the tree aloe. It frequently produces lots of little offsets, forming clumps, and in early summer, red flowers bloom. Some say it’s a hybrid of A. mitriformis and A. brevifolia , or maybe A. distans and A. brevifolia , or even that it must have some tree aloe mixed in—there are all kinds of theories!
