It's a variety of A. acutissima , and while the fully grown Acutissima has thick, robust leaves and often resembles A. arborescens , its overall impression is defined by numerous trailing, creeping shapes. In this sense, its appearance comes closer to A. castilloniae . Other slender, tree-like aloes include A. antandroi , the compact variety A. decaryi that looks similar, and A. millotii . The scientific name "acutissima" means "very sharply pointed," and the variety name is thought to come from the town of Antanimora in Madagascar (though there’s no primary source confirming this). It's said that with plenty of sunlight and a bit of stress, the foliage can develop brilliant orange to red colors, but as a species it's only described as "grey-green," so perhaps this vibrant coloring only appears under specific growing conditions.
