A quirky aloe that doesn’t look anything like the typical aloe, with fine, spiky leaves shooting out like tufts of grass. It stays fairly small, about 10 to 15 cm tall. Because it looks just like a clump of grass, it’s known as the "Grass Aloe". It used to be classified as part of the "Kama Aloe genus" (and sometimes you’ll still hear it called that), and its form is definitely distinct from the usual aloes. Under strong stress, it draws its leaves tightly together and swells at the base, sometimes forming cute clumps—a bit like a cluster of garlic, isn’t it? If you thought “Is this garlic?”, you’d be right! After all, both garlic and aloe belong to the Asparagales order (the same group as spider lilies and lilies). This unique plant hails from South Africa.
