CRASSULACEAE Crassula 'Dorothy'

Also Known As JA ドロシー

DETAIL

A charming little Crassula that forms miniature, perfectly shaped rosettes in dense clusters. The white dots covering its leaves aren't a disease—they're inherited from its deceptor parent.
This plant is a hybrid between Crassula susannae C. susannae and Crassula deceptor C. deceptor (see the hybrid info). Its plump, thick leaves form cute rosettes about 2 cm across. Growth is extremely slow, but over time, it spreads in clusters to create a tiny cushion-like mound. It looks similar to Crassula socialis C. socialis , but Dorothy's rosettes are even more compact and, unlike socialis which appears overall white, Dorothy features bold white dots scattered distinctly across its leaves.
The name honors Dorothy Dunn, a member of the "Palomar Cactus & Succulent Society" of San Diego, California. This chance hybrid is thought to have first appeared at Cooper’s Cactus and Succulents in Vista, California. Perhaps susannae and deceptor just happened to be growing side by side?
