This is a monstrose form of C. ovata , with leaves that curl and become tubular, giving it an unusual, otherworldly look. Aside from the unique leaf shape, it grows just like a regular C. ovata , becoming a small shrub over time. It looks quite similar to C. ovata 'Hobbit' , but 'Hobbit' has curled leaves, while 'Gollum' forms true tubes. C. portulacea is another name for the same species.
