This is a monstrose variety of the money tree C. ovata , with charming, curled leaves that give it a cute appearance. Other than the shape of the leaves, it's just like the regular money tree, so it also develops into a small shrub in the same way. It's often compared to C. ovata 'Gollum' —generally, the difference is said to be that 'Hobbit' has curled leaves, while 'Gollum' has leaves shaped like tubes... But in practice, 'Hobbit' usually stays smaller and has fewer leaves that become fully tubular. C. portulacea is just another name for the same species.
