With stunning impact that instantly draws the eye, this glossy, perfectly round plant sports bold white stripes in striking contrast. You can’t help but wonder: where did such a unique specimen come from? Tracing back the gossip (though this is just speculation), it seems to have originated in Thailand around 2018. There’s also a theory that it isn’t a pure meloformis but rather some sort of hybrid (it’s true that E. meloformis usually has lower ridges and a more perfectly spherical shape). But nitpicking such details hardly puts a dent in its beauty. In fact, despite its dramatic looks, it’s actually quite tough—in my garden, it survives outdoors year-round, standing up to both summer sun and winter chill.
