True to its name, the Crown of Thorns is a popular species more often grown for its flowers than its succulent qualities, adding vibrant color to garden beds. As long as the temperature is warm enough, it can bloom throughout the year. Its slender stems and showy flowers are key features. Native to Madagascar, it loves plenty of sunlight. Since it grows into a small shrub and can gain some height, it's ideal as a backdrop in mixed plantings, or you can trim it back as it grows. Cut branches can be used for propagation by cuttings in the warmer months.
