DETAIL

A Graptoveria with a glossy lime green coloring that blushes pink—charmingly reminiscent of Sedum rubrotinctum S. rubrotinctum . It’s a well-behaved "supporting character" that makes arrangements really pop. While it goes by several names, its official name is Bashful, which means "shy." In Korea, it's known as Pinkle Ruby E. 'Pinkle Ruby' , and that name is commonly used in Japan as well (although originally "Pinkle Ruby" came from a sort of telephone game with the name, and lately the original is becoming more common, but honestly, I think the quirky mispronounced version has a certain charm!). It's an original hybrid by Renee O'Connell of California’s Altman Plants nursery, though its exact parentage is unknown.

FEATURES/ORIGINFeatures/Origin

A Graptoveria with glossy lime green leaves that blush pink—charmingly reminiscent of Sedum rubrotinctum S. rubrotinctum . Its enduring popularity means it's now a staple in collections and becoming a classic.

Although it’s known by several names, Bashful is its official one (meaning "shy"). It's also the name of one of Snow White's seven dwarfs. Echeveria 'Jujube' is another synonym, inspired by the glossy, rounded red fruits known as jujubes, which it closely resembles. In Korea, it's called Pinkle Ruby E. 'Pinkle Ruby' , and in Japan too, it circulates under this name (originally it should have been "Pink Ruby," but due to Korean pronunciation it became "Pinkle").

Although it's strongly associated with Korean-grown succulents, it actually originated as a hybrid created by Renee O'Connell at California’s giant Altman Plants nursery, with its parentage remaining a mystery (even the official website doesn’t provide details…). Sometimes, it’s also listed as a Sedeveria.
