It sits low and sturdy, spreading its silvery, broad leaves in a striking rosette shape. From its silver body, salmon-pink flower spikes peek out. It resembles the nearby-growing "purpurea T. purpurea ", but its leaves are far wider and have a more substantial, commanding presence. As the Latin name suggests—["latus" (wide) + "folium" (leaf)](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/latifolius?)—this plant stands out with a body built for surviving sun and salt, thriving in sandy soils. When the plant gets large, misting alone often isn’t enough; rather than soaking for a long time, it’s recommended to dunk the plant briefly in water and remove it quickly.
